README

This repository contains surface profile data extracted from confocal measurements.

File format:
- Plain text (.txt), two columns separated by whitespace.
- Header specifies "x [m]" and "y [m]".

Columns:
1. x [m] : horizontal coordinate along the profile line.
2. y [m] : surface height (positive) or depth (negative) relative to the reference plane.

Units:
- Both columns are given in meters (SI units).
- Typical x-range: up to ~1e-4 m (tens of micrometers).
- Typical y-range: 1e-10 – 1e-8 m (sub-nanometre to nanometre scale).

Notes:
- Each file corresponds to one profile across the sample surface.
- The geometry and experimental/simulation context are described in the associated manuscript (Materials and Methods).
- Profiles can be plotted directly as x–y curves to visualise the surface topography.
